GAME OF THRONES Spin-Off, SUPERGIRL Teaser with Superman, and More TV News

The phrase something new and something old applies to today’s TV-Cap. I have word on the possibility of a Game of Thrones spin-off and some theorizing about what it could cover, intel on where you can watch episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast for free, a clip from the upcoming Star Wars Rebels season three premiere, and more.

Winding Back the Clock. Speaking at the Emmys after their wins, Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss talked about the possibilities of a prequel spin-off for Game of Thrones. In short, it could happen one day. A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin said, ““I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones. There’s a wealth of material there, and I’m still writing more, but at the moment, we still have this show to finish, and I still have two books to finish. So, that’s all speculation.” So, let’s speculate. Jessica Chobot ponders spin-off possibilities in the latest Nerdist News. [Nerdist]

A Frank Discussion. To say this presidential election cycle has been long and bizarre would be an understatement. When it’s all said and done, we’ll look back and laugh or cry, and we can do so with Stephen Colbert and John Oliver. They’ll talk at a benefit event called Wow, That Was Weird: A Post-Election Evening with Stephen Colbert and John Oliver on November 19 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. [Nerdist]

Speaking Up. Rami Malek won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Emmy for his work on Mr. Robot. He’s the first Egyptian-American to win an Emmy, and when he talked to reporters backstage, he discussed the importance of his family and the opportunity he had. Read his comments at Vulture.

Superman Flies. Supergirl’s second season drops onto The CW on October 10, and things seem serious. A new teaser gives us the first look at Superman in flight for the series. I hate to think of a threat so big and bad it requires both Supers to deal with it. [TVLine]

Most Every Episode. The voice of Zorak and Moltar on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, C. Martin Croker, recently passed away. He also worked as animator at Adult Swim, and to honor Martin, Adult Swim  has made nearly every episode of the cartoon from the ’60s available to stream for free, no strings attached. You can dive into Space Ghost Coast to Coast at their website. [A.V. Club]

Super Charming Super Stars. Apparently the kid cast of Stranger Things is going to keep being ridiculously endearing. In the above video, they sing “Uptown Funk” on stage at the Emmy pre-show. And they also performed for Entertainment Weekly by coming up with lyrics for the show’s theme music. You can watch that here at Nerdist.

Uncensored. If you didn’t catch season one of The Magicians, Syfy has released all 13 episodes on Syfy.com and the Syfy Now app. The episodes will stream with limited commercials, and they’ll also be uncensored—it’s like they cast a no bleeps spell. [IGN]

Living without Limits. Raise your hand if you’re pumped about HBO’s Westworld. Debuting on October 2, the series brings together the western and sci-fi genres and explores a world without consequences. HBO recently shared a behind-the-scenes featurette that goes to the set and previews the concepts and themes the drama will delve into. [Slashfilm]

Meet Bendu. The third season of Star Wars Rebels will bring a new and mysterious Force being into the picture–Bendu. And the being is voiced by none other than Tom Baker! Meet him in the above clip. Rebels returns to Disney XD on September 24.

If you could have a Game of Thrones spin-off set anywhere and any time in Westeros, what would you want it to be? Tell me in the comments.
