GAME OF THRONES Season 7 May Bring Back an Old Friend, and More TV News

Welcome to Thursday and your regular update on the latest and greatest television news. Today’s TV-Cap has a clue about a big mystery in Game of Thrones, an update on getting a live-action Star Wars series, word about a Star Trek: Discovery delay, and more. Note: To save people from spoilers, that Game of Thrones tidbit is the last one.

Revenge. In case you haven’t heard, Ghost Rider is coming to season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.… that’s a joke, since ABC and Marvel have been pushing the character’s involvement nonstop. The above new teaser features Robbie Reyes chatting with Daisy, and promising an interesting new dynamic among the cast. We’ll see how it plays out when the show returns on September 20. [CBR]

A Cancellation, a Premiere, an Ending. Three quick notes about three TV series: Netflix has decided season three of Bloodline will be the final one. Over on History, the back half of season four of Vikings will row onto the air on November 30. Finally, Cartoon Network announced Regular Show would be ending with its eighth season. Series creator JG Quintel said in a release that they’re “making the choice to go out exactly how we want to go out.” [Slashfilm, TVLine, Deadline]

For Your Eyeballs. Lacking in your anime knowledge? Luckily for you, Dan has his finger on the pulse of anime television and he’s willing to share his vast knowledge. He goes over eight new anime series for you to check out this fall in the above installment of The Dan Cave. [Nerdist]

Engine Trouble. The next generation of the Enterprise isn’t zipping through space as quickly as originally planned. CBS has announced Star Trek: Discovery’s debut is moving from early 2017 to May 2017. They want to give the creative team “more time to meet expectations for the series.” I think it’s best to be on the patient side with these things, and if they have the luxury to wait, more power to ’em. [Variety]

#Goals. Eleven is one of the best characters on Stranger Things, and seeing Millie Bobby Brown’s press appearances is making me like the character even more. She’s ridiculously charming. She appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and talked about her fears and quizzed Colbert to see if he could join her squad. [Nerdist]

A Different Experience. I recall the days of View-Masters with fondness, and I’ve possibly found the best reason to relive that part of my childhood because an immersive 3D Batman: The Animated Series experience is coming to View-Master. Mattel’s redesigned the toy and morphed it into a VR-capable device, a la Google Cardboard. The Batman: TAS pack takes you through a plot from the show and features the original voice cast. It will be released on November 15 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. [CBR, Image: Warner Bros.]

Wait for It. ABC executive Ben Sherwood talked to The Hollywood Reporter recently, and they asked him about the possibility of seeing a Star Wars live-action series come to fruition. Sherwood said, “Somewhere we hope in a galaxy not too far away there will be a television show that will air on one of our networks. But I wouldn’t get anybody’s hopes up too high. hey have a lot of movies to make between now and then.” In other words, a non-animated TV series likely isn’t happening anytime soon.

Touchy Feely. Fox is bringing The Rocky Horror Picture Show to television in October (on October 21, to be exact), and they’ve released the audio of Victoria Justice’s take on “Touch A Touch A Touch A Touch Me.” It’s not Susan Sarandon, but Justice’s rendition gives me hopes for the rest of the musical. [Nerdist]

We Have a Winner. American Horror Story kept the theme of its sixth seasons under wraps, but the premiere put it all out there. It’s American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare. The format is different from previous seasons, and you can get Eric’s thoughts in his recap here at Nerdist.

Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers ahead. Stop reading TV-Cap now if you want to stay in the dark.

There He Is? Remember Gendry? We haven’t seen him in Game of Thrones since season three. Years ago. Years! We have no idea about his fate, but Joe Dempsie, the actor who plays Gendry, has been spotted arriving in Belfast. He could be there for another project, but how likely do we think that is? I look forward to seeing what role Gendry will play and hope he stays in Westeros for more than a couple of episodes. [Nerdist]

What are your theories about Gendry? Are you on board with the new theme for American Horror Story? Talk about all the things in the comments.
