GAME OF THRONES Fan-Made Intro is Equal Parts Clever and Helpful

If you’re like most fans of Game of Thrones, explaining the series’ myriad locations and endless moving parts to someone uninitiated in the world of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series can be a wholly frustrating, if not downright impossible, endeavor, to say nothing of how hard it is to keep it all in check in our own minds. There are a lot of characters and settings — an understatement if ever I’ve made one. Luckily, fans of The Realm are not only incredibly artistic, they’re crafty and clever as well, as evidenced by this new, fan-made take on the series’ typical introduction.

Taking its cues from GoT‘s already inventive and creative opening sequence, illustrators Jory Bertrand and Alison Dulou highlighted each area of Westeros and Essos where current characters from the series are generally located, complete with a wee sigil-nod in each to let you know who’s in charge. Now, explaining each kingdom and character arc is a playfully cute breeze! But don’t just take our word for it, check it out yourselves:

Yeah, that was a pretty big blunder to use the actors’ names instead of the characters’. Also, if you’re going to take the time to establish the principle characters’ current whereabouts, it would have been quite helpful to additionally label each of the locations featured in the piece.

RIght? I IN NO WAY know the names of any of the actors. It was therefore useless, and I cried.

  4. Megan says:

Probably would have been more helpful to include character names, too, but very cool.
