FUNKO’S Latest SDCC Exclusive Wave Goes Retro with THE BANANA SPLITS

San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner, and Funko is not letting up one bit in preparation. This past Friday, it revealed on its website the sixth wave of exclusives for this July’s big event. If you are a fan of Sid and Marty Krofft, I have some extremely good news for you.

The Banana Splits, the all-animal band that hosted their own variety show The Banana Splits Adventure Hour from 1968-1970 is getting a pair of exclusives in Funko’s Dorbz line. Riding their custom roller coaster cars (the show was set inside an amusement park) will be drummer Bingo the Gorilla and Keyboardist Snorky.

Now you have to remember, this was the 1970s, before the advent of CGI. This was roughly the same time period Lou Ferrigno used green body paint to become the Hulk. So yes, the Banana Splits were just actors dressed up in costumes. However, for kids back then, whether it was the Incredible Hulk or the Banana Splits, their imaginations were still captured. It looks like Funko is once again succeeding with recapturing the imagination of old fans, along with introducing new fans to a quirky, fun group of characters.

You can check out the rest of Funko’s wave six in the gallery below, including a metallic Batmobile, gold Freddy Fazbear, Cowboy Deadpool and more.

So what do you think? Are your nostalgic brains ready to pick up these Banana Splits exclusives? What is your favorite Funko announcement so far? Is there anything you hope they announce but haven’t yet? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
