FULL HOUSE Reunion! If You’re Not Excited, You Should Be!

“What ever happened to predictability? The milk man, the paper boy, evening TV.” If these words mean anything to you, you were alive in the eighties and know of a little show called Full House. You know the one, the sitcom about a single father trying to raise his kids with the help of his brother-in-law and comedian best friend. It was charming, sweet and very quickly became a show that defined the late ’80s/early ’90s sitcom. It also launched the careers of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, but that’s a discussion for another day.

One of the show’s former stars, heartthrob John Stamos, has spent the better part of his latter years as a spokesman for Dannon Oikos Yogurt, and still being a heartthrob. A dreamy, dreamy heartthrob. The commercials in question often feature Stamos looking all cool as he sells you a cold treat that will make you awesome. How does any of this relate to Full House, you ask? Well, because of this:

Stamos, in what appears to be a new attempt to sell us some yogurt until… reveal former co-stars Bob Saget and Dave Coulier sitting on the counter in their pajamas. Why are they there? Why is Coulier in a onesie? So many questions!

It would seem, come Super Bowl Sunday, that the cast of our beloved sitcom will reunite for a new commercial. How many more will appear is currently unknown, but hopefully it’s more than just those three. Now, it’d be fun to sit here and mock the idea of another reunion for the sake of product placement, but who doesn’t want to see this? Reunions of actors from pop-culture’s past are all the rage these days, so of course it was only a matter of time before Full House was targeted for exploitation. At least it’s happening with a wink and a nod to how ridiculous the whole situation seems.

Hopefully the teased reunion will be a fun little short we can all reminisce over the Monday following the game. We’ll know for sure on February 2nd.

Van de Awesome- you got it dude. I’d refer to someone as a geek burger that would be very unTanner of me. So, I’ll just go dust Buster.

ABC had my favorite sitcoms when I was a kid – Perfect Strangers, Full House, Family Matters, etc. As an adult, especially with a kid of my own, I can appreciate that brand of comedy even more: There was nothing (or very little) on those shows that my parents had to (uncomfortably) explain to me or tell me that I’d understand when I was older. Even the more tame comedies that are on these days – Big Bang Theory, for instance – have a lot of innuendo and situations that make them hard to watch as a family. And considering I’m in the central time zone, BBT is on at the 7pm family hour here.

I’ll have to suffer through the Bowl just for this one. 🙂

    Cut…it…out.
You got a bad attitude Nate! How rude!….was that.
You were obviously not a kid when this show was around, because if you were you’d understand…capiche?

I love the two extremes there guys. One person broke it down and told you what’s what. The other laid it out plain and simple. Thanks guys.

Btw, I support a Full House reunion way more than an Arrested Development one cause I thought that last season was a stinker.

You realize you’re telling us to be excited about a commercial for a commercial, right? And Full House may have been “charming (and) sweet” but it was also terribly written, unfunny, and full of the worst kind of precocious kid “jokes,” usually delivered by one of the Olsen twins during their most Monchichi-like period. It defined the 80s/90s sitcom, sure, but it was a lousy definition, and decades of bad “family-friendly” sitcoms on ABC were the result.

I always had a thing for Kimmy Gibbler.
