From “The Nerdist”: The Great Debate, LOTR vs. Trek

From Saturday night’s episode of BBC America’s The Nerdist, here’s the Great Debate in which our own Kumail Nanjiani debates our own Jonah Ray and our own Matt Mira over which is better, The Lord of the Rings or Star Trek. It’s “Point, Counterpoint, Counterpoint.” Boys, boys… can’t we all just get along?

Make a note to watch next week’s episode with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gillian Jacobs, plus Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel and a side trip with Arthur Darvill. It’s next Saturday, 10/9c, BBC America (and Sunday, 7/6c/4p on Space in Canada).

Subscribe to the Nerdist Channel now no matter which you like.

I’m very happy to see that the show has improved since the 1st ep. It’s seeming to flow a little more naturally ‘where it can’.
And, even though this isn’t one of those areas it was still highly amusing, to say the least. Keep up the great work.

    Matt wins for defending TNG.

Kumail did a great job of tearing TNG apart, but failed to support LOTR.

    “HO HANG!!!”

hilarious kumail is great as always

Tyler- you’re right – but come on man don’t be that guy.

Matt is from Massachusetts- he almost can’t help himself.
He might also say windshield factor instead of wind chill factor.

    You knew what he meant.

My critique is that the jokes felt rushed- not enough rehearsal time?

  5. Tyler says:

Uhm, pretty sure Matt said “for all intensive purposes.” Can anyone confirm? I’m sure everyone knows, but it’s “for all intents and purposes.”
