Fox Developing Pilot For Warren Ellis’ GLOBAL FREQUENCY

Television continues to be the place where DC Entertainment properties flourish, as it was announced today that Warren Ellis’ original comic book limited series Global Frequency has got a pilot commitment for Fox. The adaptation is set to be written by respected science fiction writer, as well as Farscape and Defiance creator, Rockne S. O’Bannon. If the pilot goes to series, the show will chronicle the workings of “The Global Frequency”, a privately funded crime-fighting operation that “uses worldwide crowd-sourcing to solve crimes the police cannot.”  The big news in regard to this project, and what will probably ultimately get it greenlit for series, is the involvement of mega producer  Jerry Bruckheimer, who aside from producing the Pirates of the Caribbean movies has also produced several television shows, including the super successful C.S.I. franchise for CBS.

Warner Brothers Television has tried bringing Global Frequency to life as television series before, with an adaptation produced by Mark Burnett and starring Battlestar Galactica and True Blood’s Michelle Forbes and Josh Hopkins , which actually went to pilot stage at the WB back in 2005. On top of that, there was even another script developed at the CW about five years ago, but that iteration didn’t go to pilot stage. The original Global Frequency series ran for twelves issues, from 2002-2004, with each issue illustrated by a different artist, including Steve Dillon, Gene Ha, and Chris Sprouse. The series was ultimately collected into one collection, first from Wildstorm, and now issued under the Vertigo label.
