FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S Gets the McFarlane Construction Toys Treatment

Just as The Lego Movie‘s motto was “Everything Is Awesome,” McFarlane Toys’ take on the Lego-style construction set seems to be adopting the unofficial motto, “Everything Will Kill You.” Beginning with The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, two shows notorious for offing popular characters without warning, the McFarlane construction sets have used grimy colors and grim settings in a way few other brick sets dared before.

So naturally, they have finally introduced some bright colors…in the creation of creepy animatronics who will murder you in the dark. That’s right: Five Nights at Freddy’s is the newest license for the blocky line, and it will kick off with four sets. As we saw with the various interconnecting prison sets from The Walking Dead, McFarlane Toys uses this format to sell giant playsets piecemeal in a market that wouldn’t sustain the entire environment at a massive price point, and you’ll eventually be able to build the entire Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza by connecting the individual areas.

Pictured above is a prototype for The Show Stage, which will be the biggest set at launch. And for the first time in the line, we get characters who look like they could be actual Lego minifigs– if Legos were evil. Normal miniatures for these sets look more like gashapon and feature clips that attach to the Lego-ish studs, but if this prototype is close to final, Freddy and friends should stand on the studs fully–and since they are Lego-compatible, you can have them menace any number of other licensed characters.

With the birthday deco on this set, it’ll also make a great centerpiece for parties, assuming said gatherings are held by the not-easily traumatized.I’m still holding out hope McFarlane will make the classic bathroom set from the original Saw.

What twisted Lego-like sets would you like to see? Let your imagination run wild (and dark) in comments below.
