First Wave Of HALO 5: GUARDIANS Action Figures Will Include DLC Codes

MCF14247

It has been revealed that McFarlane Toys‘ first wave of Halo 5: Guardians figures will include in-game content codes for the upcoming XBox One-exclusive blockbuster. The entire lineup of figures has yet to be released, as do the contents of the codes themselves, but that’s not going to stop my excitement or my speculation. I’m just spitballing here, but I’m going to bet the “in-game content” will likely be early unlocks for certain new armor pieces. I can’t foresee crucial bits of game content being tethered to action figure purchases, so all included content will most likely be timed-bonus upgrades.

McFarlane Toys has had a solid track record with the Halo franchise over the years, and they don’t seem to be putting any less of an effort into this latest line. In particular, the Spartan Locke figure looks *suh-weet*. I’m still on the fence as to how I feel about him as character, but damn is his armor looking nice. The Spartan armory and its technicians certainly seem to be taking some design cues from the Forerunner tech that Master Chief ran into in his last outing. Master Chief and an Athlon Spartan figure–who you might recognize from this past winter’s Guardians multiplayer beta–are the other two confirmed releases so far.

Three figures were officially confirmed, with final designs subject to change of course, and the rest are being kept under wraps for now to prevent plot spoilers from the game. As we’ve pointed out, we still don’t know exactly why Locke is hunting Master Chief. We get the gist, but the details are vague for now.

Given that Cortana was apparently lost to rampancy at the end of Halo 4, if McFarlane, Inc. were to announce a brand new figurine of our favorite digital blue gal they’d obviously give away whether or not 343 plans to bring her back. So they can’t do that! (I’m hoping they do that though, because she needs to come back. #cortana4eva)

Check out the confirmed characters in the gallery below, and chime in on who you think will be next down in the comments or on Twitter!
