First Trailer for the Emotional Roller Coaster of Pixar’s INSIDE OUT

Whenever Pixar makes a movie, we have to sit up and take notice. Even if Disney Animation has been filling in a lot of the gaps in our computer-generated soul, it’s still always a joy when we know what’s next from the studio that brought us Toy Story, Wall-E, The Incredibles, and all the other films that make our hearts jump with childlike glee. And it’s these emotions that are very much at the center (actually, pretty literal that) of Disney-Pixar’s newest animated outing, Inside Out.

The film won’t be released until next June, and given the way animation of this kind works, the trailer doesn’t have a whole lot of new footage in it, but it’s still pretty effective to use their own back catalog to illustrate the power of the emotions on display in their newest film. In truth, Pixar movies do have the uncanny ability to instill many, many feelings in viewers, what the kids these days refer to as “all the feels,” and they’ve chosen to focus on these feels, specifically the ones inside an adolescent girl’s mind (the horror!) in Inside Out.

The five emotions who live in the girl’s Headquarters have been cast with probably the perfect choices from the comedy world: Joy is Amy Poehler, Disgust is Mindy Kaling, Fear is Bill Hader, Sadness is Phyllis Smith, and Anger is Lewis Black. Literally, I don’t think I could have come up with a better cast based on those characteristics if I tried. The film is directed by Pete Docter, the old-school Pixar guy who directed Monsters Inc. and Up. This is a movie we certainly can’t wait to see, and even this tiny teaser has us bubbling up with some Sweet Emotions of our own. Take a look and let us know what you think below!
