First Look At Melanie Scrofano as WYNONNA EARP

There’s a new heroine coming to Syfy next year. But if you’re a comic book fan, there’s a chance that you might already know about Wynonna Earp. Earlier this year, Syfy announced a partnership with IDW Entertainment and SEVEN24 Films to bring Beau Smith’s signature creation to live-action for the first time.

As her name implies, Wynonna Earp is a descendant of the legendary lawman Wyatt Earp. Smith’s first Wynonna Earp comic came out in 1996 from Image Comics, and he introduced his heroine as a special agent for the US Marshals’ Monster Squad as she took on bizarre supernatural threats including a mummy hitman, redneck vampires, and zombie mailmen.

Actress Melanie Scrofano has been signed to portray the title character of the Wynonna Earp TV series. Syfy has released the first two promo images from Wynonna Earp which feature Scrofano posing in character with the caption “Evil souls burn longer.”

The official description of the Wynonna Earp TV series has also been released, and it makes some changes to the source material while maintaining the supernatural element.

“After years on the run and in juvenile detention, Wynonna Earp is finally coming home. The only problem is no one back home wants her to return. But when she becomes the town’s only hope of eradicating mysterious demons, Wynonna must choose which side of the law she wants to fight on in order to clear the name of her legendary great grandfather Wyatt Earp once and for all.”

Wynonna Earp Season 1 is already in production, with an expected Syfy premiere to air in April 2016.
