Oh, Bryan Fuller! What a delightful trip it would be to take a jaunt in your brain (though admittedly we’re also slightly scared. After all, you did create the beautifully terrifying NBC show, Hannibal). Your love of all things camp, genre, horror, sci-fi, and ridiculously fun â in addition to your more than deft handling of the stuff in its TV and movie forms â is equal parts thrilling and inspiring. And your latest endeavor, High Moon, is no exception to that rule.
An adaptation of John Christopher’s 1969 young adult sci-fi novel The Lotus Caves, Fuller’s original plan for the project was a television series. After pitching the project to Syfy, the network passed on the pilot but decided, instead, to take the Jim Danger Gray (Pushing Daisies) penned script and flip it into a 90 minute TV movie adventure.
Set in a future where many of the countries of Earth have established mining colonies on the moon in order to utilize its resources for the human race, chaos soon ensues when a mysterious new life form is discovered living just beneath the surface. And from there on out? Well, they’ve got trouble! Trouble right there in High Moon city! (And no, just to be clear: High Moon is not a city on the moon but when we were writing that we had “Ya Got Trouble” from The Music Man stuck in our head and it just worked out to type it that way, OK?)
The whole thing premieres September 15 at 9pm on Syfy.
So â how excited are you for this latest bit of Bryan Fuller brilliance? Let us know in the comments.

This is one of those, why didn’t they just cast real actors if they were going for photo realism?
Wow! Looks like fun. Can’t wait to see it.
