FINAL FANTASY XV Gets a Live-Action Launch Trailer

The king is dead, and the next chapter of the Final Fantasy franchise is about to begin! Today, Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy XV for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and the company has marked the occasion by releasing a live-action trailer, via Gamespot, which teases its new world.

The game takes place in the world of Eos, picking up shortly after the assassination of King Regis and the fall of Lucis. A group of four friends in the woods attempt to make their own stand against the forces of Niflheim by striking at one of the evil kingdom’s impressive mechanical creations… to absolutely no effect at all.

As Florence Welch’s cover of “Stand by Me” plays, the group refuses to abandon one of their own and makes a desperate last stand. Fortunately for the kids, Lucis’ deposed prince Noctis Lucis Caelum arrives to save the day, and he’s not alone. While we don’t get a good look at Noctis and his friends in this trailer, we get a brief, fun look at Gladiolus Amicitia, Ignis Scientia, and Prompto Argentum going into battle alongside their prince.

The trailer closes with a brief glimpse of footage from the actual game itself, and we have to admit, we’re eager to get our hands on it. The aura of Stand by Me and Stranger Things is really helping to make this 15th installment of the Final Fantasy series stand out from the lot.
