FINAL FANTASY VII Is Now Available for Download on Android

As you no doubt expensed all your phone’s memory toward the installation of Pokemon Go, you’ll probably need to make room for an even more stirring addition to your arsenal of public transport entertainment: the illustrious Final Fantasy VII, which is newly available for download on Android devices.

Though not exactly the bona fide remastered version we’ve been awaiting for years, the mobile-friendly Final Fantasy VII is an exciting maneuver for the many of us who grew up enamored with the expansive and cinematic role playing game. Any new access to what is arguably the greatest feat of storytelling in video game history is exciting, although it stands to reason that your Android isn’t exactly going to do the once immersive and epic RPG due justice.

In short, playing Final Fantasy VII on your cell phone feels kind of like watching 2001: A Space Odyssey on TNT. On the one hand, diminutive screens and functionality will no doubt serve regular reminders of just how short the new medium is selling the monumental property. On the other, how could you pass up the opportunity to play/watch? At least just up through the Chocobo races/“Open the pod bay doors, HAL” scene.

If you do intend to add Final Fantasy VII to your commuting routine, you will most likely need to chuck some of those seldom listened-to albums or podcasts; as IGN reports, the game will entail 4GB of free space, plus 2GB to run it. Additionally, a download will cost $13, and will necessitate Android 4.3 or higher.
