FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Sequel Gets a Release Date

Fellow Harry Potter fans, we’re starting to wonder if they’re putting Felix Felicis in the water.

In news that certainly feels like a great sign, Warner Bros. has already announced that the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released in November 16, 2018, almost two years to the day after the first movie’s premiere (which comes out later this year on November 18th). The sequel will reunite the team behind the upcoming first installment, as it will be penned by J.K. Rowling, who is making her screenwriting debut with the first film (and has already written the script for the sequel), and directed by David Yates, who will helm his sixth consecutive movie set in the wizarding world (he directed the last four Harry Potter films). We first came across this news at Deadline.

Fantastic Beasts
It’s long been known that Fantastic Beasts, which follows the journey of Magizooligist Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne in the movie), would be a trilogy, but the good news here is that obviously the studio is happy with what they have seen with the first film to make this announcement months before it is even released.

The movies are loosely based on the book of the same name “written” by Scamander, which is really just an encyclopedia of magical animals and creatures, but whose adventures will be explored in the movies.

This is just the latest news for what has already been a huge week for Harry Potter fans, as the play and “eighth story” of The Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, opened in London, with the play’s script being released as a book for fans across the world. The only complaint a fan could have right about now is that Time Turners don’t go forward, so we still have to wait around to see these movies.
