Fan-Made Trailer for Boba Fett STAR WARS Movie is a Perfect Tease

In only a little over three months, the world will witness the premiere of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. To refer to the film as “highly anticipated” is a major understatement, and it will mark the beginning of a decade-long takeover of Star Wars films coming to theaters (so far). After the announcement of spin-off Star Wars anthology films in the Star Wars universe (now called Star Wars Stories), starting with next year’s Rogue One, many have wondered if this also meant a return of the fan-favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Lucasfilm has confirmed that the second Star Wars Story film, due out in 2018, will feature Boba Fett. It seems Eric Demeusy, a Star Wars fan and filmmaker, isn’t content with just waiting around, though–so he decided to make one of his own.

Demeusy’s fan-made trailer, titled Star Wars: The New Republic Anthology, sees Boba Fett escaping the Sarlacc Pit on Tatooine and trudging through the desert before finding his ship, Slave-I. While this is as far as the trailer goes, the Vimeo page for the trailer extends on Demeusy’s story.

“After being trapped for 30 years in the Great Pit of Carkoon, infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett makes a death defying escape and finds himself fighting alongside the Rebellion to establish a New Republic.”

The concept of Boba Fett escaping the Sarlacc Pit has been a long beloved concept in the previous version of Star Wars’ Expanded Universe. Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars license, however, means that most of that is no longer canon, and Boba Fett’s real Anthology film is expected to take place either before or at some point during the timeline of the original trilogy. While this does not necessarily mean Disney’s canon is saying Fett died in Return Of The Jedi, it doesn’t seem they are interested in having an aging Mandalorian running around their new films anytime soon.
