Fan Art Friday #99 – Villains by Dan Brooks

Fan Art Friday #99 – Villains by Dan Brooks

When you create any kind of art, it’s easy and tempting to stay in a rut. Once you have a skill or method down, why not stay with it and keep fine-tuning? It’s the whole “why fix what’s not broken” thing. But, pushing ahead and trying fresh approaches is usually worth it. That’s what I thought about when I saw Dan Brooks’ Fan Art Friday submission.

His gallery of fan art is inspired and influenced by comics. He pieces include fine art style portraits andmore comic book-looking studies. Like his version of Killer Croc:

I’m used to seeing The Joker in more exuberant attire; I like Dan’s casual day at the office sort of look for the villain.

Scroll down to visit with more villains as envisioned by Dan. You’ll find some faces from the Marvel side of the table with Red Skull and Venom. And to balance it out slightly, you’ll find a single hero in the form of Vampirella. If you want to browse more of Dan’s portfolio, skip on over to DeviantArt.

Do you create any sort of fan art? If so, I want to see it. Whether you focus on a specific fandom or pull inspiration from multiple stories and mediums, I’d like to highlight you in the weeks to come — what a way to kick off 2017, right? If you’d like to be featured in a future edition of Fan Art Friday, get in touch with me at [email protected] with examples of your work.
