RocketJump Teaches You How to Make Fake Blood (Exclusive)

Chocolate syrup, corn syrup, mayonnaise, yogurt, red food coloring. No, that’s not my personal Secret Sauce recipe (needs more Sriracha), it’s just some of the ways in which fake blood was concocted for movies over the years. And the kooky kids over at RocketJump Film School are here with a veritable smorgasbord of ways in which the life-giving bodily fluid has been made for the silver screen. And it’s right here on the site, exclusively, for you!

But it’s not just a wee how-to video—oh, no no no, you know they’d never do only that. The video also breaks down the cinematic history of bloody special effects and their place in cinematic history. Because not all blood is created equal, y’all. And no one knows that better than co-founder Dez Dolly and editor/director Joey Scoma by the looks of this video (I mean, unless you’re the iconic Dick Smith returned from the dead. In which case: can we shake your hand, please, sir? Also hi, how did you come back to life?). Even better? Most everything used in this video is very likely already in your kitchen at home! TWIST, right? Handing out candy to trick-or-treaters is going to be real fun this year, you guys.

What blood recipe are you planning on using this Halloween? Let us know in the comments below…if you daaaaaaare!
