Exclusive: See X-O MANOWAR in Motion With New Visionbooks Adaptation For Free

Were you looking for an excuse to revisit the first arc of X-O Manowar? Valiant and Visionbooks might have found an interesting reason to go back and check out the first four issues of the Robert Venditti and Cary Nord reboot with the launch of the first arc of X-O Manowar on the Visionbooks app.

If you’re unfamiliar with Visionbooks, the app takes existing comics and adds animations while still retaining the basic comic reading experience. So instead of a motion comic with limited animation and voice-over, a Visionbooks adaptation adds effects to the existing comic like lighting and weather effects (as you can see in the clip below).

And they’re kicking things off with a free download of X-O Manowar #1 on the Visionbooks site. If you’re into it, the entire first arc is available now on the Visionbooks site.

For those of you who didn’t catch it the first time around, X-O follows badass Visigoth Aric of Dacia whose pastime of bashing in the heads of Roman invaders gets interrupted when the aliens of the Vine kidnap him and his people and enslave them on their ship. And when Aric bonds with a suit of living armor and stages a revolt, it puts him smack in the middle of a big old inter-species conflict.

In an announcement released this morning, Valiant and Visionbooks were selling this as a new partnership, meaning it’s likely we’ll see more titles get the Visionbooks treatment in the future. Visionbooks is also partnered up with Asylum Press and Arcana, and they have plenty more free comics available.
