Exclusive: Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen Discuss Playing Magneto

With the impending release of X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut right around the corner, there is no shortage of mutant-related goodness to be had. And what could be better than one Magneto? How about two Magnetos? Well, we have just what the doctor ordered — an exclusive video of X-Men: Days of Future Past actors Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen discussing the intricacies of playing the mutant master of magnetism, Magneto. The dynamic duo is joined by the rest of the cast, as well as director Bryan Singer and producer Simon Kinberg, but the real draw here are the men who brought Erik Lehnsherr to life.

For those of you who don’t know, The Rogue Cut is a brand new, alternate cut of the film, which restores Anna Paquin’s Rogue to the story. Additionally, the special edition comes with almost 90 minutes of new special features, so you’ll have plenty of reasons to put Cerebro back on and dive into the world of the X-Men once more.

If you happen to be attending San Diego Comic-Con, you can actually see The Rogue Cut for yourself. In advance of the film’s July 14th release, Comic-Con attendees can screen the film on Saturday, July 11 at 8 PM at the Gaslamp Theater. The film will be broadcast on four screens simultaneously, and will be free to Comic-Con attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. However, guaranteed VIP tickets are available to fans who purchase the Rogue Cut in advance. In addition to scoring tickets to the screening, those who buy the film early will receive a limited edition lithograph. You can purchase the film at the Fox booth on the show floor (#4229) and the Nerd HQ/IGN Lounge at the New Children’s Museum.
