When you were a kid, you were probably blown away by the visually stunning A Nightmare Before Christmas, a combination Christmas and Halloween movie that was actually quite sweet despite its love of the macabre. Or maybe you were touched by Tim Burton‘s Corpse Bride. If you are expecting that same wholesomeness from the newest stop-motion-animated picture about evil and death, well, you are in for a big surprise.
Hell And Back, an R-rated, stop-motion comedy, tells the story of two friends who travel to hell to help rescue their friend, and we have an exclusive clip from the film to get you excited for your own trip the movies and back. In it, Augie (voiced by T.J. Miller) is asked by a mysterious gypsy woman about whether or not he believes in fate, you know, since he’s so fat.
If you haven’t yet watched the trailer for the star-studded movie, you can watch the absolutely, definitely NSFW red-band trailer here.
Just in case you can’t watch that one at this moment, here’s a green-band trailer to get you by until you don’t have to worry about all those swear words. But do not forget that this will not be a flick for the little ones.
Hell and Back, which features an “explicit love song” between Danny McBride and Susan Sarandon, opens October 2, just in time to help us celebrate Nerdoween, our monthlong celebration of our favorite holiday. Nothing says “Halloween” quite like a trip to hell, which would be scary even if The Devil turned out to sound just like Bob Odenkirk.
What would you go to hell to get back? Tell us in the comments below and we’ll see if we can work something out. We trust you know the cost though.
