Exclusive: Archie Comics’ THE FOX: FREAK MAGNET Preview

If you have been living under a rock or laboring under the delusion that Archie Comics is just antiquated kiddie fare, then it’s time to wake up and smell the comics. Archie Comics has managed to reinvigorate their line with horror-tinged offerings like Afterlife with Archie and through high-flying, all-ages superhero fare vis-a-vis their Red Circle Comics universe. No book has better embodied this rejuvenation than The Fox by Dean Haspiel, Mark Waid, and J.M. DeMatteis.

Equal parts Peter Parker and Lamont Cranston, The Fox, a.k.a. Paul Patten Jr., is a super-powered vigilante who is reluctantly thrust into the milieu of crime fighting by circumstance rather than by choice. Appropriately, the first collection of The Fox has been dubbed The Fox: Freak Magnet, a reference to Patten’s unique ability to attract the craziest, costumed kooks around, all of whom seem hellbent on killing him. Now, The Fox: Freak Magnet, coming to stores on July 2, 2014, collects all five issues by Mark Waid, Dean Haspiel, and J.M. DeMatteis, and we have an exclusive preview just for you.
