Comic-Con 2015 was a turning point for the Suicide Squad movie. The early trailer was so well-received and constantly leaked that Warner Bros. was forced to release the trailer almost immediately after the convention.
While The Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Deadshot (Will Smith) have gotten the bulk of the attention, the roster of the Suicide Squad actually has a deep bench of characters from the original supervillain team created by John Ostrander in 1987 and the New 52 Suicide Squad that debuted in 2011.
Fans of The CWâs Arrow and The Flash will probably have at least some familiarity with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Katana (Karen Fukuhara). And Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) appeared a few times in Batman cartoons. But characters like Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Slipknot (Adam Beach) have a much lower profile, even among comic book fans.
Fortunately, thereâs a new video that sums up the origin and motivations for every member of the Suicide Squad, and it even profiles The Joker despite the fact that heâs not on the team. But if youâve got five minutes to spare, this video will tell you everything you need to know about the Suicide Squad before the movie hits on August 5th, 2016.
