Everyone’s Going Out of Their Minds in the New MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Teasers

Warner Brothers has released a new teaser trailer for the HIGHLY anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road. While it is only 15 seconds long, that is all it takes to give us the 100% adrenaline rush not seen since Bhodi and Johnny Utah in Point Break.

With the exception of a .5 second significant glance at the camera by Max, played by Tom Hardy, the entire trailer takes place during what I can only guess will be one of the longest and greatest car chase scene of all time.  Cars and tanks are exploding left and right.  A man jumps from one truck to another brandishing two spears.  Oh, and in the future, people provide their own bass drum chase music.

This teaser, dubbed “Chaos,” comes on the heels of two other such short teasers, the first called “Explosion” and the other called “War,” which pretty much serve the same purpose.

Based on these, the first teaser, and the international trailer, Max is once again coming to the aid of a group of people.  This time it’s for the Imperator (Charlize Theron), who is trying to cross the desert while fleeing the Immortan Joe. We can also gather that Nicholas Hoult is completely unrecognizable as Nux, shying away from the more subdued characters we’ve seen him play in Warm Bodies and X-Men.

This will be the fourth movie in George Miller’s Mad Max saga, having released the previous three films in the late 70s to mid-80s with Mel Gibson in the title role (Our own Kyle Anderson took on The Road Warrior in his Schlock & Awe column in January. There he breaks down how that movie sets the tone for the later installments). During a Q&A at SXSW, Miller states that like the previous films, there is no set chronology as to when Fury Road takes place, with each film being viewed as its own separate story. In 2015, where the “shared universe” is king, it’s refreshing to see that type of movie making from a franchise.

Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15th, 2015. What do you think? Are you excited or SUPER Excited? (“Meh” is not an option here.) Sound off in the comments below.
