Emma Caulfield Joins SUPERGIRL as Cameron Chase

Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Emma Caulfield has just landed a new role as a DC Comics heroine in CBS’ Supergirl TV series.

Caulfield will play Cameron Chase, although her early character description from the Supergirl series paints the character in a less than heroic light: “After her father’s violent murder, Cameron Chase decided to dedicate her life to law enforcement. Now a stern, no holds barred FBI agent, Chase’s weapons of choice are manipulation and manpower. With little sympathy, and plenty of suspicions, she pursues her targets with ruthless determination.”

Chase was created by Dan Curtis Johnson and J.H. Williams III in 1998 and she had her own ongoing comic book series that placed her within the DEO (the Department of Extranormal Operations) as an agent assigned to take out metahuman threats. Chase was secretly a metahuman herself, with the ability to cancel out the super powers of other metahumans. She reappeared after DC’s New 52 reboot during an attempt to bring down Batwoman.

Aside from her fan-favorite role as former vengeance demon Anyanka ‘Anya’ Jenkins on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Caulfield is best known for starring in the horror film Darkness Falls and for her recurring role on the original Beverly Hills 90210. Caulfield has also lent her voice to Robot Chicken and recurred on Gigantic and Life Unexpected. More recently, she guest starred on Leverage, Once Upon a Time, Royal Pains, and Husbands.

Caulfield’s start date on Supergirl was not included in the original report. New episodes of Supergirl air Monday nights on CBS.
