Emily Blunt Joins MY LITTLE PONY: THE MOVIE

Attention, all you Bronies and Pegasisters out there–the upcoming My Little Pony animated film is about to get a shot of star power, as Oscar nominee Emily Blunt has joined the voice cast. She will be among Kristin Chenoweth, Tara Strong, Cathy Weseluck, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain and Ashleigh Ball, who will lend their voices to the Mane 6: Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity. Emily Blunt will be voicing an all-new character for the movie, probably an adorable pastel colored pony with a name like “Glitter Orchid Jewel” or something.

All kidding aside, considering the kind of money Hasbro throws at their “boy properties” like Transformers, it’s nice to see them get behind a big screen version of what many consider a property for young girls (although yes, I’m aware there is a rather large fanbase of men and boys who will line up for this too).

So what’s the new My Little Pony movie going to be about? According to the original report, the new movie’s plot synopsis goes something like this: “when a new dark force threatens Ponyville, the (Mane 6) embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home.”  My Little Pony: The Movie is being directed by Jayson Theissen, and is a co-production between Hasbro Toys and Lionsgate Films. It currently has a release date of Nov. 3, 2017.
