Elon Musk Just Unfriended You on Facebook

As if you needed another reason to hate Facebook other than the incomprehensible UI and friend requests from less-than-acquaintances, but the company — one of the largest on Earth — seems to have finally pissed off the remaining people on Earth. In the wake of a scandal involving Cambridge Analytica, a consulting firm that inappropriately acquired millions of users’ data for the Trump campaign, calls for #DeleteFacebook are trending. And when the hashtag was brought to the attention of you-can’t-prove-he’s-not-Tony-Stark Elon Musk, challenging him to be “the man,” Musk acknowledged the outrage by deleting both the SpaceX and Tesla Facebook accounts. Elon just unfriended you.

But although Elon did delete Facebook, he still uses Instagram — owned by Facebook. He even recently referenced a 20-year-old gag from South Park to announce his new business “plans” for the Boring Company. We still can’t tell if he’s an expert troll or just a mega nerd. Probably both.

On this week’s installment of Muskwatch, Dan and I are breaking down Elon’s abandonment of Facebook, a robot with jet-powered legs that isn’t as cool as it sounds, and how a recent Falcon 9 launch literally ripped a hole in our planet’s ionosphere.

Muskwatch airs on Nerdist.com and YouTube every Tuesday, but you can watch all new episodes two full days earlier on Sunday if you’re an Alpha subscriber. If you’re not already, find out how you can get 30 days free right here.
