Being a child of the 80s, I loved all of the movies from that era you were supposed to love; Back to the Future, Pee-Weeâs Big Adventure, and Goonies are still part of my library. These three movies had something in common, BESIDES being awesome: They all used a Rube Goldberg Machine, or as my friend Darren used to call them, âoverly elaborate ’80s contraptions.â Well, this staple of the ’80s is alive and well today in Tuna Melt, a video by A-Trak and Tommy Trash.
The video takes you through a tour of a nice looking brownstone, all the while watching a Rube Goldberg Machine do its work throughout the entire house. Using everything from dominoes, tongue depressors, even TOAST, this contraption is very impressive.
Now, not only does this video show how much work was put into the machine, but the artists decided to take the difficulty level even further by making it look like this was all filmed in one take. Hey, if that format can win the Oscar this year, itâs worth a shot, right? While you can tell that there was some clever editing involved, the shots are very seamless. I am really hoping they release a blooper video of when they accidentally knocked over something. I can only assume that video would fall into the NSFW category.
What do you think of the video? Did it make you want to get an engineering degree? Did you miss the point and ask why they didnât just eat the sandwich? Sound off in the comments below!
