EA Teases New STAR WARS Projects, Including a BATTLEFRONT Sequel

The EA Play conference has officially ended, and we got a good look at several games coming down the pipeline from the massive publisher. While most of you weren’t big fans of all the sports talk during the briefing, we did get an interesting look at what EA is planning on doing with the Star Wars IP. During the hour-long show, we got a cool behind-the-scenes look at all the different developers working on their SW games. Take a gander at the clip above, featuring plenty of lightsaber battles and aerial combat.

While the video doesn’t reveal anything concrete, we did get confirmation before it played that a new Star Wars: Battlefront is coming next year. Yeah, that’s not much of a surprise, but the 2015 version we got had the potential to be great, so there’s hope that EA and DICE listened to the fans in order to make the sequel special. Plus, launching next year means the team has plenty of time to refine the sequel since they will presumably be using assets and the engine from the 2015 version. There’s definitely plenty of reason to be optimistic.

What was most interesting was to hear from Visceral’s Amy Hennig and Respawn’s very own Stig Asmussen. Both developers are incredibly talented, so giving fans a glimpse at what they’re building is most certainly exciting. One thing is for certain: EA is not letting the SW IP go to waste.

What did you guys think about the clip? Did you like EA’s conference? Was there way too much sports ball involved in the hour long show? What do you hope to see from the developers working on Star Wars games? Are you attending EA Play? Let us know in the comments below. Be sure to check out the summary of what went down on the EA Play live blog here.
