Harry Potter fans love to talk about their Hogwarts House. Itâs a label that each Potterhead wears with pride, and we love to spread the word to other Potterheads about why our specific house is the best house. However, no Hogwarts House has had to deal with as much bad press as those of us sorted Slytherin.
Sure, Hufflepuffs get made fun of for being too nice, Ravenclaws for being too bookish, and Gryffindors for being a bit foolhardy, but none of those houses have had to fight against the image of being “the house where the bad kids get sorted” thanks to having one of the evilest people in the entire wizarding world hail from your house. So don’t be surprised when your Slytherin friends try to convince you that their house is the best house… especially when that friend is Draco Malfoy himself, Tom Felton.Â
Felton recently posted an image to his Instagram with his Harry Potter co-star (and famous Gryffindor) Matthew Lewis (a.k.a. Neville Longbottom). In the image, Felton is clearly trying to spread the Good Word of Slytherin House to his friend, and apparently, Felton was pretty close to converting Lewis to Team Snake.
Okay, so maybe that less-than-enthused look on Matthew Lewis’ face proves that he wasn’t anywhere close to forsaking Gryffindor, but you can’t blame Tom Felton for trying, right? After all, every Slytherin needs to do their part to help improve the public image of our house (especially if that particular Slytherin happened to align himself with Voldemort himself for a time, but let’s not focus on that right now).
We think Matthew Lewis would make a GREAT Slytherin. After all, while Slytherin get bad press for their evil alumni, the heart of the house is all about ambition, fierce loyalty, and working hard, something Lewis is all about. So keep trying, Tom. We’ve got faith that you can win the rest of the Harry Potter cast over to House Slytherin!
Do you think Matthew Lewis would make a good Slytherin? What other Harry Potter cast members do you think should be sorted Slytherin? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
