Watch the First Trailer for WATCHMEN/DC Comics Crossover DOOMSDAY CLOCK

Last year, the minds of fans everywhere exploded when the end of DC Universe Rebirth #1 revealed that the mysterious force that had been raining terror on the DC Universe by messing with time itself was none other than the omnipotent Doctor Manhattan of Watchmen fame. Although DC famously published Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal miniseries back in 1986, and its controversial series of prequels Before Watchmen just a few years back, DC had always kept the world of Watchmen and the DCU strictly separate. But that’s all about to change.

Coming this November, DC Comics writer extraordinaire (and DC Entertainment CCO) Geoff Johns is re-teaming with his Superman and Batman: Earth One collaborator Gary Frank to bring us Doomsday Clock, a 12-part miniseries that brings together iconic characters from the Watchmen and DC realms. Specifically, it will find Superman at odds with Doctor Manhattan himself.

In the video above, you can watch as writer Geoff Johns explains the genesis of the project, and how this is a battle not of brawn, but of philosophies, as Superman’s never-ending positive outlook will come to clash with the cynical world that Moore and Gibbons created over 30 years ago. While Doomsday Clock will deal with some of the continuity hiccups in the DCU since the Rebirth special last year, according to Johns, its main goal will be to explore ideas like cynicism vs. optimism.

Doomsday Clock #1 hits shelves November 22, 2017. To preorder the first issues, visit your local comic book shop or visit DCComics.com/DoomsdayClock to request your digital copy.
