DOCTOR STRANGE Blacklight Posters Coming to AMC Theaters

Joining us today at the forefront of Movie Morsels is the newest superhero to take the Marvel spotlight—we’ve got the latest bit of promotional material for Marvel’s Doctor Strange. But just in case Earth’s Sorcerer’s Supreme isn’t awesome enough for you, we’ve also got new photos from Logan and John Wick: Chapter 2, casting news on Shane Black’s The Predator, and more…

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange has always been trippy. Take his original comic book, Strange Tales, for example. Strange shared the title with another Marvel hero, and one who couldn’t be more different: Nick Fury. This meant that while spy-fi fans bought Strange Tales for a fix of James Bond-like espionage, hippies on college campuses across America were also buying the magazine for Stephen Strange’s adventures. Years later in the ’70s, Marvel tapped into the mage’s psychedelic fanbase with the coolest in a series of original blacklight posters. Dr. Strange movie director Scott Derrickson is a big fan of this poster, as he revealed last year on Twitter…

Now we learn that Derrickson apparently shared his love of the above poster with Marvel Studio’s top brass, who have authorized the release of two new blacklight posters to promote his own take on the Sorcerer Supreme, as embodied on screen by Benedict Cumberbatch

The posters, which debuted on IGN, will be made available exclusively to AMC Stubs members who purchase tickets to see the film’s IMAX release. Designed by Randal Roberts, the posters will be released over two consecutive weekends, from November 4th through November 13th. So if you cats want to get trippy with the Doc, then grab ’em while you can, man!

Logan

Meanwhile, in another corner of the Marvel Universe, Fox has released a few more artful black-and-white photos from the set of Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine movie, Logan. These latest two are a little more cryptic than the ones we’ve seen recently of Professor Xavier and the film’s villainous Donald Pierce. But they suggest two of the movie’s settings will be a smelting plant and…a high school prom?! Take a gander.

The Predator

Speaking of Logan, the actor who plays the film’s Donald Pierce, NarcosBoyd Holbrook, is in talks to star in Shane Black’s long-planned Predator film. Sadly, Boyd would be replacing Benicio Del Toro, whose own negotiations for the role have fallen through. But rather than letting a little thing like losing Benny slow down production, writer-director Black sounds like he’s instead saying, “If it acts, we can cast it.” (Sorry.)

John Wick: Chapter 2

If you were one of the unfortunate souls who didn’t see the bloody action ballet John Wick, you might want to remedy that soon. Lionsgate just keeps ramping up its publicity for the film’s February 10th sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, which means we here at Movie Morsels are only gonna be sharing more and more from John Wick: Chapter 2. So let’s just say it’ll be easier for all of us if you hop on board the Wick train now, huh? I promise you won’t regret it.

Here’s the latest batch of pics from the film, featuring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and the most adorable dog in the whole wide world.

Mute

Kevin sneaks a smoke, Senior finds him

Finally today, Duncan Jones‘ return to cerebral science-fiction drama, Mute, has just added another name to its already impressive cast: Justin Theroux, star of the The Leftovers (pictured above), will co-star with Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard in the Netflix original feature. Skarsgard will play the title role, a mute bartender looking for a lost love in Berlin 40 years in the future, while Rudd, and now presumably Theroux, will play “an odd pair of American surgeons” who “seem to be the only recurring clue” to finding Skarsgard’s soulmate.
