Disney Releases Full MOANA Track “How Far I’ll Go” Sung by Alessia Cara

If I were ever hired for the job of finding someone who didn’t like Lin-Manuel Miranda, I would have job security for life, as that seems like an impossible task. The singer-songwriter is showing that there definitely is life after Hamilton—not only did he have a successful hosting gig on SNL, but he is also helping write the score for the upcoming Disney film Moana, starring Dwayne Johnson as the demi-god Maui and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as the titular hero.

Reported by Vulture, the above clip debuts the first full song from the film, entitled “How Far I’ll Go.” Beautifully sung by pop star Alessia Cara, “How Far I’ll Go” represents Moana’s point of view at the beginning of the movie. It talks about how even though she has responsibilities to her island and people, she still wants to go out and explore the oceans.

Combining this song with the clip of “You’re Welcome” we saw earlier this week, it’s apparent that Moana will be continuing the tradition of Disney songs that instill both humor and inspiration. With Miranda at the helm, I have full confidence that the rest of the songs in this film will be just as great. Moana, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, will open in theaters November 23rd.

So what do you think? Does Disney have another inspirational hit on their hands? Will the combination of two of the most likable people ever, Miranda and The Rock, bring the internet to its knees? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
