All the Details, Easter Eggs, and POKÉMON in the DETECTIVE PIKACHU Trailer

Do you know what “pika pika” translates to? It means, “Holy crap did you see the new trailer for Detective Pikachu it looks aaaaamazing!”

Okay that might be a loose translation, but it does capture how we feel after seeing the first look at the upcoming live-action/CGI Pokémon movie starring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the adorable little sleuth. Not only does it look fantastic, it contains lots of beloved Pokémon, Easter eggs from past games and stories, and details that diehard fans of the franchise will go hunting to uncover. But you don’t have to worry about doing your own detective work to find them all, because today’s Nerdist News is already on the case.

Join host Amy Vorpahl as she seeks out every adorable little creature, tribute, and adaptation we spotted (and even some we heard) in the teaser, which featured a plethora of both classic and new Pokémon. Some were easy to spot like Psyduck, but there were even more hiding in the background. (Did you see the Venusaur?) Also learn what the Ryme City setting might tell us about the kind of lives Pokémon have living there, and what event brought so many of them out. What other locales does the trailer indicate we travel to in the film? And how will it adapt the Detective Pikachu video game?

Of course, we also now know how Pikachu will be able to “talk” without violating everything we know about non-Meowth Pokémon verbal skills. That means “pika pika” can still translate however we want, so we’re going with, “Oh man did you see all the Easter eggs in the awesome Detective Pikachu trailer?”

Which Pokémon were you most excited to see? Which one are you bummed wasn’t in it? We chose you to share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
