DETECTIVE PIKACHU is Finally Coming to America, with a Giant Amiibo!

In 2016, Japanese Pokémon fans got to experience the Great Detective Pikachu game that featured an usually smart Pikachu who could actually speak as he teamed up with a young boy named Tim to solve mysteries. It took two years, and an upcoming theatrical adaptation, but Detective Pikachu is finally coming to America in March with a localized version of the game for the Nintendo 3DS. And as you can see in the trailer below, Detective Pikachu doesn’t like getting bossed around by anyone. This Pikachu may not be quite as powerful as the other pikachus (pikas chu?), but he’s not afraid of a fight.

The story takes place in Ryme City, as Detective Pikachu attempts to find Tim’s missing father, Harry, by searching for clues and interviewing witnesses. Detective Pikachu also has the ability to speak to other Pokémon, which will occasionally provide some valuable information. There are also several human characters that will encounter Detective Pikachu and Tim, but not all of them can be trusted. The trailer suggests that some of the supporting players may even try to derail Tim and Detective Pikachu’s investigation. And while Ryan Reynolds will provide Detective Pikachu’s voice in the upcoming movie, we kind of prefer his gruff voice in this trailer.

Detective Pikachu will be released on the 3DS on March 23. But fans may also be interested in picking up the Detective Pikachu Amiibo that looks like a giant next to the standard Pikachu Amiibo.
