Destiny Calls in the Final ASSASSIN’S CREED Trailer

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie is one of the rare adaptions that will actually share continuity between the film and the video game series by Ubisoft. As such, Assassin’s Creed will once again explore the conflict between the assassins and the Templar Order. And in the newly released final trailer for Assassin’s Creed, we finally know exactly what the Templars want and why Michael Fassbender‘s Callum Lynch has to stop find a way to stop their agenda.

Within the opening moments of the new video, Alan Rikkin (Jeremy Irons) explains the Templars’ desire for an artifact called the Apple of Eden, which will allow them to pacify mankind and potentially save humanity. But it’s more likely to be used as a means to control the world. To get it, they’ve kidnapped Callum and forced him to relive the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha in the middle of the Spanish Inquisition. Needless to say, Callum didn’t expect that! And Aguilar’s thoughts and actions are so powerful that his influence will be felt by Callum several centuries later, and that may hold the key to Callum’s survival and the fate of the world.

The trailer also makes it clear that Callum isn’t the only test subject undergoing the Animus treatment to mine the secrets of his ancestor. Michael K. Williams‘ Moussa briefly appears, as he and Callum appear to join forces. In the 15th century, Williams will also play Baptiste, the ancestor of Moussa. Whether the potential alliance between Callum and Moussa will stay intact remains to be seen.

Assassin’s Creed will be released in theaters on Friday, December 21.
