The New DEADPOOL 2 Trailer Introduces Josh Brolin’s Cable

Instead of dropping a new trailer on Super Bowl Sunday, Deadpool live-tweeted the big game from the comfort of his own home. But that doesn’t mean that Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth isn’t ready to show off some footage from the upcoming sequel. The first extended Deadpool 2 trailer has arrived with some silliness, violence, and very NSFW language. This time, Deadpool makes good on his promise from the first film’s post-credits scene and introduces the world to Josh Brolin‘s time-traveling mutant freedom fighter, Cable.

Of course, it just wouldn’t be Deadpool if the reveal went exactly as planned. Instead of a straightforward intro, the teaser seized the chance to both mock Justice League‘s digital erasure of Henry Cavill’s mustache and engage in an unexpected parody of Toy Story, as only Deadpool could pull off.

The rest of the trailer proceeded as planned, with Cable throwing down and gunning for Deadpool himself. It appears that the two anti-heroes will be at odds with each other over the course of the story, or at least for a large chunk of it. (Perhaps because Cable will be corrupted by Stryfe? Or perhaps because he just thinks Deadpool is a pain in the neck.)

The new footage also provides us with a glimpse of Deadpool’s reunion with a number of the original film’s supporting characters, including Vanessa, Blind Al, Dopinder the cab driver, in addition to giving us a glimpse of new characters like Domino and a bird-flipping youngster played by Hunt for the Wilderpeople‘s Julian Dennison.

Deadpool 2 is hitting theaters on Friday, May 18, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride!
