FEMALE FURIES Star in a New Fourth World Comic from DC

DC Comics undoubtedly has some of the most interesting and boundary-pushing ongoing titles right now, and on Monday, the publisher announced an incredibly exciting, groundbreaking new miniseries. Female Furies will focus on the fierce women of the Fourth World; for the first time, it’ll have a female creative team with writer Cecil Castellucci (Shade, the Changing Girl) and artist Adriana Melo (Plastic Man).

In a press release shared by the publisher, Castellucci describes the vibrant new title: “Female Furies takes place smack in the middle of Jack Kirby’s original Fourth World, so if you know Kirby’s New Gods well you’ll have a familiar understanding of the key players and their motivations. However, you don’t need prior knowledge of Apokolips to enter this story; just remember that there are often terrible people in power…and then there are the people who are being held down by them.”

DC also shared this gorgeous cover by Mister Miracle artist Mitch Gerads for what sounds like an incredibly exciting book that’ll explore womanhood and strength in the male dominated Fourth World. “For their entire lives, the Female Furies have been raised to be the meanest, most cunning, and ruthless fighting force on all of Apokolips. So why is it that Granny Goodness’ girls are left behind every time the men go to war? With the might of New Genesis hanging over the planet, and the Forever People making mincemeat of Darkseid’s army, Granny thinks it’s time all of that changed,” DC’s press release teased.

We cannot wait to explore the world of the Female Furies when the book hits shelves February 6, 2019. Will you be checking out this brave new Fourth World title? Jump into the comments and let us know!
