David Fincher May Team With Aaron Sorkin Again For Steve Jobs Film

Back in 2010, David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin collaborated on the Academy Award-nominated The Social Network, a movie about the creation of Facebook. While at first it seemed like nothing more than a gag, the film quickly made it clear it was a tale of betrayal and what it means to succeed in the modern age. Why are we bringing this up? Because it seems the duo might be headed for another team-up, and this one’s a doozy.

Since Steve Jobs’ death, Sorkin’s been hard at work on a biopic script based on the life of the Apple CEO. Reportedly, the film will take place in three scenes that happen before specific Apple press conferences for the Mac, NeXT, and iPod. Up until now, the project has been without a director, but it seems that’s about to change, as Fincher is reportedly in early talks to take on the film once he’s finished with post-production on his latest feature, Gone Girl.

There couldn’t be a better case scenario for this film. Sorkin is a master storyteller when it comes to subject matters concerning a person’s rise to power, and Fincher proved with The Social Network that he can direct the hell out of Sorkin’s writing. Also, he’s Fincher, so, yeah. If this deal happens, we could be looking at the beginnings of 2015’s best picture winner.

Keep yourself tuned to Nerdist for more news as it develops on the currently untitled film.
