Judge Dredd has taken on Aliens and heâs gone up against a Predator, but heâs never had to take on both at the same time…until now! At this weekendâs Emerald City Comicon, Dark Horse Comics, IDW, and 2000AD jointly revealed that a Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens four-issue miniseries will launch this summer.
Chew creator and former B.P.R.D. co-writer John Layman will script the Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens miniseries, with Chris Mooneyham on board as the interior artist and Glenn Fabry as the cover artist. As part of the announcement, the first cover was released, and it features Judge Dredd getting an eyeful of his twin adversaries.
But Dredd wonât be alone in this story. Heâll be joined by another 2000 AD fan-favorite, Psi-Judge Cassandra Anderson as they head out into the Cursed Earth to follow a criminal cult. And according to Layman, it only gets crazier from there.
“We open the book with a crashlanded Predator, and instead of being the hunter, as usual, the Predator is the prey,” said Layman during an interview with io9. “Heâs crashlanded in a jungle overgrowth in the middle of the Cursed Earth, where he is pursued by an Island of Dr. Moreau group of man-animal hybrids, creations of a crazed genetic engineer. And this crazed scientist recovers not just the Predator, but some of the predatorâs hunting trophiesâincluding a Xenomorph skull, and the Xenomorphâs DNA contained therein. You can probably see where this is headed, but add to it Dredd chasing the robot leader of an apocalypse death cult, and everybody on a collision course. Then s*** gets nuts!”
We are absolutely sold on this one. Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens is coming to comic book stores on Wednesday, July 27.
