Mod May Make ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES the Great Game It Could Have Been

There are very few video games that have proved as disappointing to gamers and fans as the first-person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines did. The final game was never anywhere near the epic experience Gearbox Software advertised it to be through surprise reveal trailers and super-polished demos shown off at big trade shows. Many were heartbroken by how bad the completed product was. But after nearly three years of waiting, you may finally be able to play the game that was originally promised. TemplarGFX’s ACM Overhaul has turned Aliens: Colonial Marines into the tense, terrifying experience it should have been back in 2013.

This new mod rebalances Xenomorphs and humans to make them more dynamic in the midst of all the action. “Xenomorphs have seen the most work fixing their behavior and mechanics to make them truly terrifying foes to face, dramatically shifting the tone of the entire campaign,” reads the description.

Human AI has also been tweaked for the better, along with lighting, animations, particle effects, and shaders. Check out the video above for a small taste of what you can expect if you choose to download this mod (which you can nab right here).

Of course, this will only work on the PC version of the title, which isn’t too bad when you consider that you can find the game on the cheap.

What did you guys think about Aliens: Colonial Marines when it originally launched back in 2013? Did you think it was as bad as critics said it was? Are you going to try this mod out? Let us know in the comments below!
