DAREDEVIL Season 3 Teaser Drops Release Date and Hints at a Returning Villain

The last time we saw Daredevil was in the finale of the Netflix crossover series The Defenders, which had our hero Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) seemingly buried under a New York City high rise, with his fellow vigilante friends and former co-workers all believing him dead. The tag at the end showed Matt then waking up surrounded by nuns, and the post-credits scene from season two of Iron Fist confirmed the devil of Hell’s Kitchen is alive and well…okay, maybe just alive. Now we have an official release date for the third season, as the show is scheduled to drop in exactly one month, and a new teaser.

The footage shows a bloody Matt Murdock, back in his black costume again. Murdock’s narration discusses how evil always finds a way to come back, and we think this is definitely a reference to season one villain Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, returning. This season also sees the introduction of Maggie (Joanne Whalley), who is Matt’s mother-turned-nun. And although nothing is confirmed, rumors abound that Daredevil’s deadly nemesis Bullseye will finally put in an appearance this season.

In the comics, we’ve seen Matt Murdock all but ditch his civilian life and his job as a lawyer to dedicate himself to full-time vigilantism before. Could we see something similar happen in season three of Daredevil? The teaser trailer indicates this is a scenario we might see play out.

Daredevil season three will officially drop on Netflix on October 19.
