While members of The Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy have been populating the big screen, and old and new Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. have dominated the small screen, Marvel Entertainment has made plans for what are referred to as “street level” heroes to take over our computer screens with four original Netflix series. The first of these series, Daredevil, will be premiering all thirteen episodes of its first season in 4K on April 10th. We have already seen both a teaser trailer and a full trailer for the series, but Netflix has not stopped the promotion train just yet. The streaming service giant has released a new poster for the series depicting actor Charlie Cox in his role as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer who moonlights as the vigilante Daredevil.
Obviously, the night job takes its toll on the young man, but he seems to be able to keep a smirk on his face despite the painful looking abrasions. It looks like everything that Marvel has put forth for the series supports the term “street level” with visceral and low-tech heroism. Cox looks like he belongs next to Ed Norton on a poster for Fight Club instead of one day gaining the title of Avenger. Fans of the recent Mark Waid run on the comic book title will agree that despite the similarity in suits and shades, this Daredevil has a lot more in common with the comic character than we saw from Ben Affleck a little over a decade ago.
The series will be the first of four Netflix Originals coming from Marvel before culminating in an Avergers-style team up known as The Defenders. With everything that Daredevil has shown us, April 10th can not come soon enough. Let us know in the comment section or on Facebook what you think of the poster, and geek out over Daredevil with me on twitter @MattDelhauer. Until next time, true believers.
Is it just accidentally stretched vertically? I hope that’s not the true image…
