While Daisy Ridley and Josh Gad were filming the recently released remake of Murder on the Orient Express, Gad posted a series of comedic videos in which he constantly asked Ridley for Star Wars spoilers. It looks like Gad will get to keep on bombarding Ridley with questions about Episode IX, because they are re-teaming for an original superhero comedy film on Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has signed a deal to make Super-Normal, a character-driven comedy set within the superhero genre. Gad came up with the initial idea for Super-Normal, which he developed with Aaron and Jordan Kandell, the sibling screenwriting duo who wrote Disney’s Moana. A director and a start date have not yet been announced for this project.
As if we weren’t excited enough about Super-Normal, Gad also recruited Luke Evans to co-star in the film alongside himself and Ridley. Earlier this year, Gad and Evans appeared side-by-side as LeFou and Gaston in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. Hopefully they will bring their impressive comedic synergy to this project as well.
The premise for Super-Normal hasn’t been revealed, so we don’t know if Gad, Ridley, and Evans are actually playing superheroes in this story, or if they are portraying ordinary people who inhabit a very extraordinary world. But given the strength of this trio, we’re very eager to see how they play off of each other.
