First RIVERDALE Promo, MST3K Lost Episodes Found, and More TV News

I don’t know how it happened, but January isn’t very far away. That means midseason schedule changes are on the horizon–changes like the premiere of Riverdale on The CW. Today’s TV-Cap has the first promo and photos for the series inspired by Archie Comics, theories about the maze in Westworld, a first look at season seven of Game of Thrones, and more.

A Different Town. If you’re a fan of Archie Comics, you’re about to see characters from those comic pages brought to life on The CW. Riverdale premieres on January 26. The network’s released the first promo for their take on the comic, and it’s gritty and sexy and not like the stories I’m familiar with–which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After you’ve watched the promo, visit the gallery below to see some new stills featuring Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Jughead Jones. [Nerdist, Images: The CW]

Recovered Episodes. Mystery Science Theater 3000 did Thanksgiving right with an 11 hour marathon, and they kept the party going on Black Friday. Joel Hodgson told backers of his Kickstarter project to bring back the show about uncovering two lost episodes: “K01 – Invaders from the Deep” and “K02 – Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars.” What. Learn all about the previously missing episodes here at Nerdist.

Civilization Lecture. A preview for the next The Walking Dead, “Sing Me a Song,” features Negan spouting some thoughts about the importance of rules. I know the title’s pulled from the comics, but as an Outlander fan, I can’t help but think of that show’s opening credits. Anyway. The second clip highlights Michonne doing what she does best. The episode will air on December 4. [CBR]

Not So Much. Kevin Smith was pursuing a Buckaroo Banzai TV series with Amazon, but on November 23, MGM filed a copyright lawsuit against the 1984 film in order to clear the way for said TV series. It was enough to put things in limbo at Amazon and catch Smith off guard, and he’s backing off. He goes into it in the above Facebook live video (which has NSFW language, by the way) starting at about four minutes in. [Deadline]

Navigating the Maze. Westworld has a single, solitary episode left in season one, and the HBO series has questions to answer. The biggest hanging theory at this point is about the Maze and what it means. We have some theories, and Dan reviews them on the latest Nerdist News. [Nerdist]

Compete! If Iron Chef is your cuppa food competition series, then get excited. Food Network is bringing back the Iron Chef America franchise with Iron Chef Gauntlet. Alton Brown will be in the role of host again (thankfully). Production should begin early next year for a 2017 premiere. [Variety]

Going Hands-On. Netflix is bringing together the former build team from MythBusters, Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara, for a new series: White Rabbit Project. The show debuts on December 9 and features the trio ranking “history’s greatest inventions, heists, and more.” My favorite part of the trailer? It looks like they’re having a lot of fun. I’m in. A Few Pics. HBO aired a “coming in 2017” promo during Sunday night’s Westworld, and it featured some glimpses of season seven of Game of Thrones. Twitter user Michelle Nicolette caught some screencaps, and Watchers on the Wall shared them. I’m very intrigued by that shot of Arya. Do you think she’s headed home? [Uproxx]

Heroic Recaps. Monday night’s Supergirl set off the four part crossover happening on The CW’s Arrow-verse shows this week; read Samantha’s recap. Then, head this way to read Sydney’s recap of the fall finale of Gotham.

Twist Breakdown. As mentioned, Monday marked the fall finale for Gotham. There was a surprise involving Selina Kyle, and Sydney talked to actress Camren Bicondova about the implications. Read the interview here at Nerdist.

What are your thoughts about the first trailer for Riverdale? Sound off in the comments.
