Custom SUPER MARIO WORLD SNES is Shiny and Beautiful

When buying a new console, you usually have the option to get it in a few different colors, perhaps with some special edition, game-specific art on it. If you’re really industrious, you can even find some decals to stick on your console of choice and customize it that way.

But that wasn’t the case in the early 90s, in the days of the Super Nintendo. People still love the 16-bit box today, though, so they’re taking matters into their own hands. Over the weekend, deviantArt user Zoki64 uploaded photos of a SNES that he customized with a red and blue Super Mario World redesign, and the results are gorgeous.

Zoki64 also shared a video detailing the console–watch it above–that makes the customization all the more impressive. The attention to detail is stunning, the colors are crisp, and if you’re wondering why it’s so dang shiny, Zoki64 said it’s because he uses an automotive clear coat finish.

This isn’t his first time around the SNES block, as he also recently made a similar customized console, this time in the theme of Super Mario All-Stars:

Beyond those two creations, Zoki64’s deviantArt profile is a haven of custom-painted consoles: He’s also made a The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess GameCube, a Final Fantasy VII PlayStation, a Mario Party N64 with matching controllers, a Sonic 10th Anniversary Dreamcast, a Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Wii… there are just a lot of great things going on over there.
