Cruise with Jay Leno in the Darth Vader Hot Wheels Car

Since leaving The Tonight Show, Jay Leno has been able to focus on one of his favorite things in the world: cars. His YouTube channel, Jay Leno’s Garage, profiles cars from of all types, from classic, to modern, to even the Batmobile.

This latest video takes Jay to a galaxy far, far away, as he takes a look at the lifesize version of the Darth Vader Hot Wheels custom car. Jay speaks with the car’s designer Bryan Benedict and learns that Lucasfilm approved the very first design he presented, which is inspired by Vader’s helmet. Benedict went on to say that when designing these types of concept cars, he always tries to match the features with the personality of the character. He wanted the car to look powerful, menacing, and strong.

Jay then brought in the car’s builder, Billy Hammon, to go over its specs. It’s a two-seater and is formed from the chassis of a C6 Corvette. It has custom wheels with Imperial logos designed by MHT. Thanks to a remote control, you can raise the cowl to enter the car, as well as activate the classic Vader sound effects.

The video closes out with Jay and Billy taking the car for a test drive. It will make any Star Wars fan wish they had unlimited disposable income.

So what do you think? Would the “Vader-Mobile” be something you’d want in your garage? Which Batmobile do you think would give it a run for its money in a street race? Let me know on Twitter or start your Force engines into the comments below.
