Will Cross-Platform Gaming Really Bring Xbox and PlayStation Together?

Up until now, Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network were two different ways you could play games online with friends or strangers, but never the two would meet… until now? A recent announcement from Microsoft — outlining their plans to introduce cross-platform play between Xbox Live and Windows 10 for Rocket League — mentioned that the native support they’re introducing could allow for “other online multiplayer networks.” Bold move for Microsoft to take the first steps at suggesting the two gaming giants could start playing nice.

Imagine how awesome it would be to game with all of your friends, regardless of what console they own? Never again feeling the pressure to ditch your Uncharted exclusives to buy an Xbox and join your buddy’s Halo squad. No longer would you stay up late debating whether Mortal Kombat X players are more worthy challengers on Sony’s platform or Microsoft’s! What a wonderful world this could be!

Join Jessica Chobot as we discuss why the two gaming networks should, would, and could link up on today’s Nerdist News!
