Learn the Art of CRAFTING COMICS with Jim Higgins & Tiffany Smith

Comic books have taken over the public sphere in recent years, thanks in large part to film franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe captivating audiences around the globe. But for many, comics have been a refuge for far longer than that, a beloved medium that is sometimes overlooked for its artistry and style. And if you’ve ever read a great graphic novel, you’ve likely wondered to yourself, “How on EARTH could I ever do something this cool?” Well, we’re here to help with our new show, Crafting Comics!

Debuting exclusively on Alpha, Crafting Comics stars comic book writer Jim Higgins, hot off a nine-year run as head of programming and instruction at Meltdown University, and geek personality extraordinaire Tiffany Smith, as they bring you a 12 week curriculum of comic book writing and illustration. Each episode, Jim and Tiffany will break down different exercises and fundamentals to teach you how to accomplish that week’s assignment. By the end of this course, you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish!

In last week’s premiere episode, Jim and Tiffany break down the terms and jargon you’ll need to know throughout the course and go over the homework assignment that Jim gives his students as they begin their journey down the road of creating their own comics. And don’t worry, this class is not just intended for artists… this is for anyone who is interested in graphic storytelling and sequential art!

Crafting Comics airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. PST on Alpha, right after Alpha Book Club!
