Both dolphins and bats evolved echolocation independently — nature selected for the ability to sense objects from the echos they reflect in two animals with similar dietary tasks. Humans however, can’t click their way through the deep sea or a dark night…or can they? Could any of us be like Daredevil?
In my latest Because Science, I take a look at human echolocation and the amazing plasticity of the human brain. Not only do you already posses a rudimentary ability to echolocate, some blind individuals have in fact attained Daredevil-like sensing abilities.
